May Newsletter
Dear Friends & Prayer Warriors,
The old saying says, “April showers bring May flowers.” But it doesn’t say how busy May can be. For us it was quite busy.
We started out in revival at Scotland Baptist Church near Winona, MS on May 1-4. This was our fourth revival at Scotland over the past six years. Their new pastor, Bro. Jonathan Parker, invited us last year, but we were already booked. So he went ahead and scheduled us for this year. We had a wonderful time worshipping with the sweet folks there once again. The guest evangelist was Bro. Lyndon Longoria from DeRidder, LA. This was our first opportunity to work with Bro. Lyndon and hope it’s not our last. He brought some powerful messages from the Lord.
That was the only revival scheduled for the month of May. The following Sundays we ministered at our home church, Kilmichael Baptist. Our church voted in a new pastor on May 1. His name is Bro. David Sartin. His first Sunday will be June 5. We are all excited to see what the Lord has in store for this new chapter of Kilmichael Baptist Church. The boys and I were able one day to help some of the other men of the church get Bro. David and Mrs. Lisa moved.
May always is busy for us personally as well. I am typically busy at work with all the different graduation ceremonies that I direct at Mississippi State University. And of course, Becky is quite busy with finishing up homeschool and her annual Spring recital she has for her piano and voice students. This year, however, she had two senior students who chose to do individual senior recitals. So this year that meant that Becky had three recitals for which she had to help her students to get prepared. They all did very well with their recitals.
One other activity we did was with the children of our church. Becky and I are on the committee for children’s activities at our church. In April they loaded up the church bus and took the kids to the Memphis Zoo. I was videoing a wedding that day and was unable to go with them. This month we planned a picnic and time of hiking at Jeff Busby Park on the Natchez Trace, also known as Little Mountain. We had a wonderful time. The Lord provided great weather for it as well.
Now Becky, Linda Dismukes and Tammy Jackson are in the process of planning for Vacation Bible School which takes place at our church on June 20-24. Please be praying for them as they iron out the final details and place the volunteers in their proper positions as leaders.
One other event that took place in the month of May that I definitely don't want to overlook is that our little Chloe turned nine on May 16. Where is the time going?
Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to seek His will in our lives. May the Lord continue to shine His light upon you.
In His Service,
Steve & Becky Carver
