June Newsletter

Dear Friends & Prayer Warriors,
I would say that June has been a slow month, but it really hasn’t.  Although we have only had one revival, we have been quite busy with our church.  Becky was co-director again for our VBS this year.
The month began with our new pastor at Kilmichael Baptist Church, Dr. David Sartin, starting his first Sunday with us on June 5.  We were able to be with him for the morning service, then we travelled to Louisville, MS that afternoon to set up our equipment for a revival at Macedonia Baptist Church.  The revival went from June 5-8.  It had been over 15 years since we were at Macedonia.  Their new pastor, Bro. Larry Odom, invited us to be with them that week.  The guest evangelist was our dear friend, Bro. Wayne Hudson.  It is always a joy to get to work with Bro. Wayne.  He is such an amazing man of God.
So the rest of the month was devoted to getting VBS together.  Becky was also trying to finish up school with the kids.  Kilmichael’s VBS was June 20-24.  It is always quite stressful in the planning stage and wondering if we will have enough teachers and assistants.  It sometimes comes down to the wire, but the Lord always provides.  We had some wonderful teachers and assistants this year.  Even Bro. David Sartin and his wife, Lisa, took on the roll of teaching the fifth and sixth grade class.  She is an actual 6th grade school teacher.  This was the third year that Becky and Linda Dismukes co-directed VBS.  This year’s theme was LifeWay’s “Submerged.”  So the decorations took on an underwater feel.  Becky recruited Tammy Jackson to be in charge of decorations.  Tammy always does a great job.  She is so creative.  I somehow ended up on the decorating committee.  I think it was because I knew how to handle a ladder.  All the teachers were responsible for decorating their rooms and they all did a fantastic job.  We all had an amazing time at VBS this year.  For the week, we had and average of 38 children in attendence.  Becky asked me to put together a video to document the fun that was had.  So I did.  If you would like to watch that video you can go to this website to see it:  https://splice.gopro.com/v?id=epqWXbZJd  Be sure to view it before July 15.  I will be putting another video in its place during our Standing in the Gap Missions weekend at our church.
Finally, the last week of the month was “Carver Camp!!!”  This is what Michelle Wilson has called it for the last seven years.  Michelle is Becky’s best friend from their early teen years.  Every summer Michelle has taken the kids back home with her to Franklin, TN for “Carver Camp.”  It started out with just Christian and Caleb.  Michelle has a rule that they have to be five years or older in order to go to Carver Camp.  Typically she plans it around her church’s VBS so the kids can go to that.  It didn’t work out this year.  But she has had some really fun things for them to do.  They are having a blast with Aunt Chelle.  This is the first year that all of them got to go together.  They didn’t have it last year because of some health issues she was having at the time.  So Becky and I have been childless all week.  They come back Saturday afternoon.  Becky and I have spent the evenings picking blueberries and curled up on the couch watching episodes of Fixer Upper on HGTV.  We love that show.  So, for our final night of freedom, we are planning a date night consisting of dinner and a movie.  We don’t know what we are going to see, but it doesn’t really matter…we’ll be together.
Please keep us in your prayers.  July will be crazy busy for us.  We have a revival one week Sunday-Wednesday and then start Standing in the Gap that Thursday-Sunday.  We also have the Tabernacle Camp Meeting at the end of the month along with a concert following that.  We appreciate your prayers and support.  You all mean so much to us.  May the Lord keep you in the hollow of His hand.

      In His Service,
      Steve & Becky Carver
